Identification of polymers

Laboratory for analysis and identification of polymeric materials

Qualitative and quantitative identification of polymer parts including base polymer materials, fillers, softeners, solvents, ash, carbon content and other additives.

To identify the polymeric materials this laboratory uses the following methods and techniques.

• Infrareds spectroscopy - FTIR and attenuated total reflectance (ATR)
• Thermal analysis such as differential scanning calorimetry, gravimetric analysis, dynamic mechanical thermal analysis.
• scanning electron microscope (SEM), Energy dispersive X-Ray analysis (EDXA).
• Nuclear Magnetic Resonance(NMR).
• X-ray fluorescence technique (XRF).

Analysis and interpretation of  the result are also performed.
